York Minster -- North Quire Aisle

Visited 18-20 March, 2006

Like the South Quire Aisle, the North aisle contains many elaborate tombs, including a royal one, the infant son of Edward III.  Less famous is this tomb of Archbishop Thomas Savage (below) who died in 1507.  Above it is a reconstructed chantry chapel covering.  The Minster once contained about 60 of these but Reformation remodelers eliminated almost all of them.

Here's another polychromatic memorial, this one to the Sir Henry Bellasis 1555-1624.

Here's another in a more neo-classic style to Thomas Watson Wentworth.  Whoever he was, the woman is not too impressed.
