Maria and Mike decided to take the Eurostar train to London for a few days and see the sights. Here's what we did:
These pictures are from the Victoria and Albert [known as the V&A, of course] Museum. They have 2 rooms that contain plaster casts of famous sculptures and carvings from other places. The reason for this is that they made the casts back in the 1800s as a teaching tool since travel was so difficult in those days. The plaster was then painted to look like the original. It's really amazing how real it looks.
Who do you think looks better? I vote for the good looking woman on the left. One of the really neat things about the V&A museum is that it's mission is primarily a teaching museum about the decorative arts. They had an exhibit about industrial design and featured this really groovy fridge:
Here's a view from one of the upper floors of the V&A:
The one bad thing about London was the weather. Maria froze her feet every day! We were lucky that it didn't rain every day but when it did it was quite miserable.
This is the legendary Harrod's store, of course. We actually didn't go in because they were closing by the time we got there. Maria picked up some stylish foods for her friends at Harvey Nick's.
