Bergamo, Lomardy, Italy -- July 2006 -- Here's the back of the Palazzo della Ragione from the religious square. When built in the 12th century, the Palace faced this way but was reorientated when the secular Piazza Vecchia was built. Note the swallow-tail merlons at top -- symbolic of a political faction called the Ghibellines in the long civil war going on while this structure was built.
