Yosemite National Park, California 2008 -- Here's what's left of the 2300 year old tree. Sequoia bark is about 74% tannins which will keep this trunk from decaying for centuries. Note how the tree broke up when it toppled. It has a lot to do with why these trees are still here -- stay tuned.
