On advice of friends we stayed in one of the sixty rooms (six guestrooms) at Château de Lascours and loved it. We pretty much had the place to ourselves except for the resident ghost, Gabrielle de Brancas, who was poisoned by her husband in 1736. We didn't have any interactions with her that we know of but we were careful about what we drank.
The place was built from the 12th through the 17th centuries. Its owners today rent rooms for various community gatherings and sponsor concerts in the courtyard (pictured below) during the summer months.
Breakfasts were in the great room in front of a huge fireplace that took the edge off the late March morning chill.

The chateau is about 15 miles from Avignon where the Popes used to sleep. We'll soon have those pictures posted.
