Today before dinner we took a walk....
and went through the Tulleries gardens, here's a view:
Yes, that's the Eiffel Tower on the left.
Then we walked down the Champs-Elysees...
If you look closely, you can see the Arc de Triomphe in the background and the Arch de la Defense (a plain square, modern arch) is behind it but appears to be inside of it.
They are in the process of setting up Ferris Wheels in the middle of the street. Apparently, they're having a big party in a week; Something about a milennium or something.
And then once we got down to the Arc de Triomphe I had to take the obligatory tourist photos:
Last night (Christmas Eve) we took a walk to see the Christmas lights by Galleries Lafayette, a big Parisian department store.
The store also had really cute window decorations, with wiggly stuffed animals.
Then we walked down to the Place Vendome and looked into the ritzy store windows like Cartier.
Here's my artsy picture of the monument in the middle of the Place Vendome:
Later we went to midnight mass at St. Roc's church. (It was mostly in French so now I know how the peasants felt in the middle ages when they couldn't understand Latin.)
More Later!
